Best Natural Remedies for Dry Eyes
Chamomile Tea
Chamomile tea leaves are among the best natural remedies for dry eyes as they contain strong anti-inflammatory properties. Simply put one or two chamomile tea bags in a cup of hot water for about 5 minutes (just like you would usually make an herbal tea) and once the liquid is no longer hot to the touch, soak two cotton balls in it. Then, apply the soaked cotton balls to your dry eyes. This simple, yet effective remedy for dry eyes will moisturize your eyes and relieve you of any inflammation caused by irritation of the eyes.
Cucumber Slices
Maybe you have seen some diva in a movie putting cucumber slices on her eyes, and you thought: “Wow, this is ridiculous!” Well, not so much, as this is one of the best natural remedies for dry eyes and is very easy to apply. All you have to do is cut two slices of cucumber and place them on your eyelids (your eyes need to be fully closed, though). Then, you can simply dose off for about 20-30 minutes, and the water in the cucumber will add moisture to your eyes and have a cooling effect on them.
Other Natural Remedies
Other natural remedies for dry eyes include soaking a towel with warm water and keeping it over the closed eyes for about 20 minutes. Also, you can apply a gentle soap to remove the particles embedded in the eyes that can be the cause of discomfort and dry eyes. You may also use eye drops made of lavender oil or castor oil and using cotton balls soaked in fennel seeds (the procedure here is the same like with the chamomile tea). All of these remedies are very simple to apply (for instance you only need to soak the towel in some warm water to use it), and they are an excellent way to keep your eyes properly moisturized. Even if you do not have a problem with dry eyes, using some of these natural remedies is excellent as they keep your eyes well moisturized all the time and also serve to protect your eyes from any inflammation or irritation. Moreover, let us not forget the fact that this is a much cheaper way of dealing with dry eyes than any prescription eye drops or other medication that your ophthalmologist can prescribe you.
